Lyon offers an incredible range of options for you to enjoy outside of class time: boutiques, cinemas, exhibitions, concerts, sports centres, bars, restaurants, discos… so many possibilities for going out with friends, for exploring on foot or for partying. There's something for all tastes and budgets.

A city with two thousand years of history offers plenty for keen historians, including the impressive Cathédrale St Jean, the Roman District and the Silk District on the slopes of Croix-Rousse. Gourmands too are spoilt for choice in a city known as the French capital of gastronomy, where great food can be found from the smallest Bouchon to the grandest Michelin-starred restaurants.

For some fresh air, there’s nothing like spending some time in the magnificent city centre Parc de la Tête d'Or, which is the largest urban park in France. Out of town, the backcountry and Rhône countryside demand a visit, whether for a walk, a cycling trip or a trip to discover the finest Beaujolais vintages at the famous wineries.
